I am very excited to begin my first year of teaching at StarShine Academy! Let me share a short bio about myself. My name is Renee Hecht. I moved to Arizona three years ago from Chicago, IL to care for my niece. During the three years I’ve been here I attended Northern Arizona University where I received my Masters Degree in Elementary Education. Furthermore, I hold a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Kendall College in Chicago.

My previous experience in the field of education comes from years of employment as a nanny, childcare worker, and a substitute teacher. I cared for children ages birth to 5 years old at The Jewish Community Center for eight years. I was a nanny for two years caring for two young boys, and substituted in the Alhambra and Peoria School District. Lastly, while completing my Masters Degree, I student taught in a first grade classroom at Terramar Elementary School.

I have always had a desire to work with children, yearning to help them learn, watch them grow, and make a meaningful difference in the world. Throughout my teaching experiences, I felt great joy in seeing students learn to believe in themselves, because I helped them achieve what they felt was beyond their grasp. At StarShine Academy, I want to help students achieve their potential and make a difference in their lives. I expect that my students will leave with the confidence and skills that will carry them through school and life. I look forward to sharing an educational and fun-filled year with students at StarShine Academy!
